Our Easter Art Competition is always very popular, so don’t forget to check out the entries which will be displayed in our Amersham and Wendover office windows throughout March. We will donate £3 to the Rennie Grove Peace Hospice for every picture we receive and of course every child who enters will take home a small prize, plus prizes for the top 3 in each age category. See the posters in our office windows or check our social media pages for more information.

£1710 Raised at Halloween

IMG_2306_edited.jpg

This year we held 3 Halloween events, our usual Halloween window trails for the children in Wendover and Amersham. This year children had to find the spooky ghosts hiding in shop windows throughout the towns. Our 3rd event was a Halloween disco and raffle at Jason and Ana’s local pub in the Lee, this was very well attended and is something that we plan to do on a regular basis to raise money for local charities.

This Halloween we raised a total of £1710.00 for the Rennie Grove Peace Hospice and the Florence Nightingale Hospice.

Ana's 100km Challenge

On September 2nd Ana took on the South Coast Ultra Challenge, walking 100km continuously from Eastbourne to Arundel to raise funds for the Lindengate Charity. Ana hoped to do this in under 24 hours and managed to complete the challenge in under 23 raising a fantastic £738 for this local charity to help them continue the great work they do supporting people’s mental health and wellbeing through the provision of nature-based activities. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Easter 50km Ultra

On Saturday 3rd April Ana took on the Easter 50km Ultra in Windsor to raise money for the Chiltern Foodbank. Despite the very wet and muddy conditions underfoot, Ana completed the 50km and managed to raise a very respectable £540 for this local charity, which in turn will help local families in need.

Alice in Amersham

We were excited to be asked to host one of our popular window trails as part of Amersham’s day of events for the first ever Buckinghamshire Culture open weekend. We chose  “Alice in Wonderland” as our theme (renamed to Alice in Amersham), Ana dressed as Alice and Jason as the Mad hatter! It was great to see so many families out enjoying the trail (and the cakes at our mad hatter’s tea party after). We also raised £200 for the Rennie Grove Hospice from donations given by those who took part in the trail, and even some passers by who just wanted some cake!

Ana raised a fantastic £315 for the Pace Centre and got to see some fantastic Buckinghamshire countryside along the way.

Easter Drawing Competition

Due to Covid restrictions we are unable to put on a fun Easter Trail / Easter Egg Hunt, but we love Easter and really wanted to do something. So we are now running an Easter Drawing Competition, with lots of delicious chocolatey prizes.

We have 4 age categories with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age category. We have also enlisted help from local artistic businesses to help with the judging.

We are also running a charity raffle to raise funds for the development of the Children’s Memorial Gardens in Longwick. Prizes include a huge 1kg chocolate Easter Egg and cuddly toy from Rumsey's Chocolaterie Wendover worth over £100, a box of chocolate Easter eggs, pots of spring flowers, vouchers from someCreati.

A huge thank you from us to everyone who donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and donated money to our Christmas Raffle. We received this message and certificate from Rennie Grove today:

“On behalf of everyone at Rennie Grove Hospice Care thank you so much for supporting us with your Amersham Christmas Raffle and raising an amazing £1,050.00. We really appreciate your generosity; please accept this email as a receipt of the funds.
We are so grateful for all the donations we are currently receiving, particularly during these unprecedented times. It means that the Rennie Grove nurses are able to carry on their amazing work, caring for and supporting patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes.
Your kind donation could provide 36 hours of specialist nursing care to our patients in their own homes and support to their families when most needed”

The Amersham Christmas Window Trail

1.jpg

Following the success of our Spooky Spider Trail at Halloween we decided to put together the Amersham Christmas Window Trail. We have brought together 40 local businesses (and Father Christmas) to put on this fun free festive event for the local children.

Update

The Santa Saturdays were so much fun. A big thank you to all the local Amersham businesses that took part, decorating windows and donating prizes for our raffle. Also thank you to everybody that came to enjoy the fun with us (especially those who bought raffle tickets or made a donation).

The Santa Saturdays were so much fun and we raised over £1000,00 for Rennie Grove Hospice Care.

Spooky Spider Halloween Trail

spooky.jpg

Well Halloween has been and gone and what a fantastic time we all had. With over 400 children participating, lots in really spooky costumes. Such a welcome break from the strange year that is 2020. So many have requested we make this an annual event, so of course we are going to do so. Thank you to everyone who took part and joined in the fun.

Santa Dash

We had great fun at the weekend taking part in this years Santa Dash. Held in Hemel Hempstead, the Santa Dash raises much needed funds for the Hospice of St Francis.

Thank you to all those who sponsored us.

Chiltern Toy Bank

It's been a busy year for us at J Brown Funeral Services so it was nice to be in a position to buy some toys for the Chiltern Toy Bank.

Chiltern Toy Bank is a fantastic cause, they provides help to struggling families in the community at Christmas time.

Here we go again!

After raising £520 for Scannappeal back in June this time we are taking on the Mud Pack Challenge raising much needed funds for the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. The Mud Pack challenge is 5 miles of muddy, wet fun as we slide, swing, wade and crawl to tackle natural, man-made, and military-style obstacles around the stunning private grounds of Ashridge House. The Hospice of St Francis is a charity that provides free care and support for patients, families and carers affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, offering medical care, practical advice and emotional support.

We did it!

It was a cold windy afternoon and the last thing we wanted to do was spend it wading chest deep through muddy water, but we did it! And what a lot of fun it was too.

Thank you to all who sponsored us. With your help Ana and Jason raised £425 for this fantastic Hospice.
